The Photos browser in Photomator integrates seamlessly with the Photos app on your device, allowing you to directly build upon your Photos library and streamline Photos-driven workflows. You can access all your albums and folders and edit them right in Photomator without the need to create a separate photo library. Whenever you import new photos to the Photos browser in Photomator, they’re automatically added to the Photos library on your device, keeping your workflow quick and organized.
Any edits you make will automatically sync between Photomator and Photos, and with iCloud Photos support, those changes will also appear on all your devices. And, if you're using an iPad or Mac, you can also share your edited photos through Shared Albums, allowing for seamless collaboration with friends or clients.
Browse photos
In the Photos browser on iPhone, you can browse photos in the categories at the bottom of your screen:
All Photos shows the complete collection of photos in your library.
Albums lets you browse specific albums and folders you created.
Favorites shows a collection of photos marked as favorites in Photos.
Edited lists all your photos edited using Photomator.
Or you can browse albums, as they appear in your Photos library:
My Albums shows all albums and folders in your Photos library. You can tap See All to view all albums as a list.
You can also view photos in automatically created albums — panoramas, selfies, RAW photos, and more.
In the Photomator sidebar on iPad, you can browse photos automatically added to the following categories:

View individual photos
View or open a photo
To view or open an individual photo, do any of the following:
Touch and hold the photo thumbnail to see a larger preview of the photo without opening it.
Tap the thumbnail of the photo to open it.
Pinch open or close on the trackpad to zoom the photo. You can drag the zoomed photo to reposition it.
See details about a photo
To view photo info like the image type, camera settings, location info, or date:
Open the photo you want to find out more about.
Tap More in the toolbar.
Choose Show Info.
Move between photos
When you open a photo, you can navigate between different photos based on the album or location they belong to.
Swipe left or right on the photo.
Use the filmstrip below your photo to quickly jump to another photo. If the filmstrip is not visible, choose View > Show Filmstrip to turn it on, and deselect the currently selected tool.

Sort photos
In the Photos browser, open a custom album you want to sort and tap More . Note that you cannot sort All Photos or albums created automatically.
Tap Sort, and choose an option:
Album Order shows photos in the order they originally appear in Photos.
Creation Date shows photos sorted by when they were created. You can sort from oldest to newest or vice versa.
Modification Date shows photos sorted by when they were last edited. You can sort from oldest to newest or vice versa.
In the Photos browser, open an album you want to sort.
Choose View > Sort from the View menu at the top of the screen and choose an option:
Album Order shows photos in the order they originally appear in Photos.
Creation Date shows photos sorted by when they were created. You can sort from oldest to newest or vice versa.
Modification Date shows photos sorted by when they were last edited. You can sort from oldest to newest or vice versa.
Create a new album or folder
Tap Albums at the bottom of the screen.
Tap + then choose New Album or New Folder. Note that the New Folder option only appears when album nesting is turned off in the Photomator settings.
Name the album or folder, then tap Save.
If you've created an album, select the photos you want to add to it and tap Add. You can always add more photos by tapping + in the album photo grid.
If you've created a folder, tap + in the top right of the screen and choose New Album or New Folder to add photos.
In the Photos browser sidebar, tap New Album below My Albums.
At the bottom of the albums list, tap New Album and choose New Album or New Folder. Note that the New Folder option only appears when album nesting is turned off in the Photomator settings.
Name the new album or folder, then tap Save.
If you've created an album, select the photos you want to add to it and tap Add. You can always add more photos by tapping + in the album photo grid.
If you've created a folder, tap + in the top right of the screen and choose New Album or New Folder to add photos.
Do one of the following:
Create a new album from a group of photos: Select the photos you want in a new album, then choose File > New Album with Selection.
Name your new album or folder and press the Return ↵ key to confirm.
Rename an album or folder
Tap to select the album or folder you want to rename.
Tap More then tap Rename Album or Rename Folder.
Enter the new name in the text field, then tap Save.
You can also touch and hold an album or folder in the Photos browser and choose Rename Album or Rename Folder in the menu that appears.
Tap to select the album or folder you want to rename.
Tap More then tap Rename Album or Rename Folder.
Enter the new name in the text field, then tap Save.
In the Photos browser or sidebar, you can also touch and hold an album or folder, then choose Rename Album or Rename Folder from the menu that appears.
In the Photomator sidebar, Control-click the album you want to rename.
Choose Rename Album.
Enter the new name in the text field, then press the Return ↵ key.
Import or add photos
Add to an empty album: Tap Add at the top of the screen, or tap More and choose Add Photos.
Add to an album with existing photos: Tap + in the album photo grid. You can also tap More in the toolbar and choose Add Photos.
Add to a folder: Tap + at the top of the screen, then choose New Album or New Folder. Give the new folder or album a name and choose save.
Move a photo from a different album: Touch and hold the thumbnail of your desired photo until it hovers. Then, while holding the photo, navigate back to your list of albums and drop it onto your desired album.
Add to an empty album: Tap Add at the top of the screen, or tap More and choose Add Photos.
Add to an album with existing photos: Tap + in the album photo grid. You can also tap More in the toolbar and choose Add Photos.
Add to a folder: Tap + at the top of the screen, then choose New Album or New Folder. Give the new folder or album a name and choose save.
Move a photo from a different album: Touch and hold the thumbnail of your desired photo until it starts to hover, then drop it onto your desired album in the sidebar.
Import photos: Drag and drop a photo onto the Photomator icon in the Dock or the sidebar on the left. When importing folders, a new album for that folder will be created in Photos.
Add to an album: Click + at the top of the screen, choose File > Import from the File menu at the top of the screen, or drag and drop an image from anywhere on your Mac to the album photo grid.
Add to a folder: Choose File > New Album or New Folder from the File menu at the top of the screen, give the new folder or album a name, and choose Save. You can also drag and drop the desired albums or folders onto your desired folder in the sidebar.
Move a photo from a different album: Drag and drop the photo or photos you want to add from one album or folder onto your desired album in the sidebar.
Rearrange or delete albums and folders
Tap Albums at the bottom of the screen, then tap See All.
Tap Edit, then do any of the following (note that the Edit option only appears when album nesting is turned off in the Photomator settings):
Rearrange: Touch and hold the album’s thumbnail, then drag it to a new location.
Delete: Tap the Remove icon. You can also touch and hold the album's thumbnail in the browser and choose Delete Album in the menu that appears.
Tap Done.
In the Photomator sidebar, tap Edit, then do any of the following (note that the Edit option only appears when album nesting is turned off in the Photomator settings):
Rearrange: Drag the album where you want it in the list of albums.
Delete: Tap the Remove icon. You can also touch and hold the album's thumbnail in the browser and choose Delete Album in the menu that appears.
Tap Done.
Rearrange albums
In the Photos browser, click My Albums in the sidebar.
Do any of the following:
Rearrange albums: In the sidebar, drag the albums into the order you want.
Rename albums: Control-click an album, choose Rename Album, then type a name for the album.
Duplicate albums: Control-click an album, then choose Duplicate Album.
Delete albums
In the Photos browser, click My Albums in the sidebar.
Control-click the album that you want to delete, then choose one of the following:
Delete album removes the album from the library and iCloud, but the photos remain in your photo library.
Delete the album and photos removes the album from the library and moves the photos in it to the Recently Deleted folder in the Photos app. These photos will be irreversibly deleted from this folder in 30 days.
Understanding thumbnail badges
When browsing photos in the Photos browser, you may notice different badges attached to them.
badge marks photos taken in a RAW file format. Photomator can open and work with over 750 different RAW formats.
To view photo info like the image type, camera settings, location info, or date click the Info button in the toolbar.
Create an empty album: Choose File > New Album or New Folder, or position the pointer over the sidebar next to My Albums and click the Add button , then choose Album or Folder.
Photos marked with badge are edited using Photomator or any other app on your device but do not contain any nondestructive edits. If you'd like to edit the originals of these photos you can revert the photo to original.
Photos nondestructively edited in Photomator are marked with a badge. You can always continue editing these photos from where you left off, or you can revert them to the original.
badge means a photo has been taken using both, JPEG and RAW file formats. Photomator will prioritize opening RAW photos in such cases, if not selected otherwise in Photomator settings.
