Batch edit photos

To batch edit photos, you first select them, then choose what settings will be applied, and finally, choose where you want to save the edited images.

Edit multiple photos at a time

iPhone and iPad

1. In the Photos or Files browser, navigate to a folder with the photos you'll be editing.

2. Tap Select in the top-right corner of the screen. If you're working in the Files browser using Portrait orientation, tap More to find the Select option.
3. Select the photos you’d like to edit.

4. In Photos, tap Edit Images at the bottom of the screen. In Files, tap Edit at the top of the screen.

5. Choose from your pinned batch workflows or tap More Workflows to see all available workflows or create new ones. Learn more about creating custom workflows in the section "Create a custom batch workflow."

6. Tap Apply to start automatically editing photos.

7. If you choose to batch-export photos, you'll also need to choose how you'd like to share or where you'd like to save them.

Mac

1. In the Photos or the Files browser, navigate to a folder with the photos you'll be editing.

2. Click and drag in the browser to select the photos.

3. Do one of the following:

   • Control-click the photos and choose Workflows

   • Click Edit Photos at the top of the screen

   • Choose Image > Workflows from the menu at the top

4. Choose from your pinned batch workflows or click More Workflows to see all available workflows or create new ones. Learn more about creating custom workflows in the section "Create a custom batch workflow."

5. If you choose to batch-export photos, you'll also need to choose where you'd like to save them, then click Save Images.

Ensure the "Preserve Edits" option is enabled in the workflow settings to be able to fine-tune photos after editing.

Create a custom batch workflow

iPhone and iPad

1. In the Photos or Files browser, find the photos you'd like the edit.

2. Tap Select in the top-right corner of the screen. If you're working in the Files browser using Portrait orientation, tap More to find the Select option.
3. Select the photos you’d like to edit.

4. In Photos, tap Edit Images at the bottom of the screen. In Files, tap Edit at the top of the screen.

5. Tap More Workflows.

6. In the My Workflows category, tap Create Workflow or tap + at the top right.

7. When you're done creating your workflow, tap Add.

Mac

1. In the Photos or the Files browser, navigate to a folder with the photos you'll be editing.

2. Click and drag in the browser to select the photos.

3. Do one of the following:

   • Control-click the photos and choose Workflows

   • Click Edit Photos at the top of the screen

   • Choose Image > Workflows from the menu at the top

4. Click More Workflows.

5. In the bottom left, click +.

6. When you're done creating your workflow, tap Apply.

You can edit multiple images at a time using your own color adjustments. To do that, create a color adjustment preset, then select it when creating or updating a workflow.

Customize a batch workflow

You can customize any workflow to change the edits it applies.

iPhone and iPad

1. In the Photos or Files browser, navigate to a folder with the photos you'll be editing.

2. Tap Select in the top-right corner of the screen. If you're working in the Files browser using Portrait orientation, tap More to find the Select option.
3. Select the photos you’d like to edit.

4. In Photos, tap Edit Images at the bottom of the screen. In Files, tap Edit at the top of the screen.

5. Tap More Workflows.

6. In the workflows browser, tap More next to the workflow you'd like to edit.
7. Customize the settings.

8. Tap Apply and the settings will be updated automatically.

Mac

1. In the Photos or the Files browser, navigate to a folder with the photos you'll be editing.

2. Click and drag in the browser to select the photos.

3. Do one of the following:

   • Control-click the photos and choose Workflows

   • Click Edit Photos at the top of the screen

   • Choose Image > Workflows from the menu at the top

4. Click More Workflows.

5. Click a workflow on the left.

6. Customize the settings.

7. Click Apply and the settings will be updated automatically.

Available customization settings

• Adjust Colors. Turn on Adjust Colors and choose from the Color Adjustment presets. Tap or click Auto Enhance to enhance photos before applying the presets. You can also use Auto Enhance without color adjustment presets to automatically improve the look of your photos. Tap Match Colors and select a photo from which you want to copy the look.
• Rotate. In Rotate, you can add actions that straighten, rotate, and flip photos.

• Crop. Tap ML Crop to crop your photos automatically or turn on Crop to choose from the available crop presets. You can also use ML Crop in combination with the crop presets.

• Export. You can use export to export your images in HEIC, AVIF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and Photomator file formats. If you have a compatible device, you can also export in HDR formats such as HDR JPEG, HDR HEIC, HDR AVIF, and HDR PNG on all devices, as well as HDR Still Image Video on Mac. Drag the Quality slider to adjust the quality at which the photo will be exported. The default setting of 85% provides a smaller file size without a noticeable drop in quality. Select a different scale setting to export an image at 50% or 25% of its original size, or enter a custom scale size. If Export is turned off, the original photos will be overwritten with the changes, but you will still be able to revert the photos to the originals later.

• Increase Resolution. Increase the resolution of photos using machine learning-powered algorithm.

• Reduce Noise. Remove camera noise and image compression artifacts.

• Smart Deband. Increase the color depth of photos and remove color banding.

• Preserve Edits. Ensure this setting is enabled to save edits nondestructively and to allow for fine-tuning later.

• Pin in Menu. Add workflows you use most frequently to the quick actions menu to access them quicker.
