How can I purchase Photomator?

Photomator is available to download for free from the App Store on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro. You get 3 free edits to try it out and, if you decide to purchase it, you can do so by choosing Photomator > Buy Photomator on Mac. On iPhone or iPad, tap Settings (the gear icon at the top of the files or photos browsers) and choose Subscribe to Photomator. You can choose monthly or yearly subscription plans, or if you prefer to purchase Photomator and keep it, a one-time purchase license is also available.

How much does Photomator cost?

The Photomator price may vary from country to country. To get the most accurate prices in your region, visit the Photomator product page in the App Store app on your device. You'll find the pricing information by expanding the In-App Purchases section under Information.

If any special offers are available for you to take advantage of, you'll see them in the Photomator purchase screen or be able to redeem them in the Photomator License settings. See the section How can I check my purchase status and find purchase options? to learn where to find your License settings.

Is there a free trial available for Photomator?

Yes! When you download Photomator for the first time, you get 3 free edits (or 10 if you are an early supporter or Pixelmator Pro user). You can see how many free edits you have left in the Photomator toolbar. To extend your trial period, you can opt for the yearly subscription, which also includes a bonus 7-day trial at no extra cost.

If you sign up for a 7-day trial and you don't want to continue with the yearly subscription, make sure to cancel it at least 24 hours before the trial ends. If you do it later, you may be charged the full subscription fee.

What is the difference between the subscription and the lifetime version of Photomator?

The subscription and lifetime license offer identical features and tools. Your choice between them simply comes down to your preferred payment method.

Do I need to pay again to use Photomator on another device?

No. A single license unlocks Photomator on all your devices, including Mac, iPhone, or iPad. To start using Photomator on a new device, you'll need to restore your purchase. See the section How can I restore my purchase and activate Photomator on another device? to learn how.

Photomator for Mac is available as a free download to all users who bought Photomator after August 18th, 2022. For users who bought Photomator before this date, we're offering a special early supporter discount of 30% off the lifetime license of Photomator, which unlocks it on Mac.

How do I restore my purchase and activate Photomator on another device?

  1. Go to the App Store app on your device and download Photomator from your list of purchased apps. If you're not seeing Photomator in your list of purchases, make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you initially used to purchase it or see the Apple Support article for more info on redownloading your previous purchases.

  2. Once the download finishes, open Photomator.

  3. Redeem your purchase by doing one of the following:

    • On iPhone or iPad, tap Settings (the gear icon at the top of the Files or Photos browser), then tap License and choose Restore Purchase.

    • On Mac, choose Photomator > Restore Purchase (from the Photomator menu at the top of your screen).

How can I check my purchase status and find Photomator purchase options?

To check the current status of your Photomator license by doing one of the following:

  • On Mac, choose Photomator > Settings (from the Photomator menu at the top of your screen) and choose License.

  • On iPhone or iPad, tap Settings (the gear icon at the top of the Files or Photos browser), then tap License.

How do I cancel or change my Photomator subscription?

The Photomator subscription comes in 2 different types: monthly and yearly. If you'd like to change the subscription type or cancel it, you can do that at any time through your App Store account.

To quickly access subscription settings directly in Photomator, do one of the following:

  • On Mac, choose Photomator > Manage Purchases (from the Photomator menu at the top of the screen).

  • On iPhone or iPad, tap Settings (the gear icon at the top of the Files or Photos browser), then tap License and choose Manage Subscription.

If you'd like to buy the lifetime license of Photomator, you'll first need to cancel your current subscription, wait until the subscription period ends, and then purchase the lifetime license. See the section Why can't I find the option to buy a lifetime license for Photomator? to learn more.

Does Photomator support Family Sharing?

Yes! You can share your purchased copy of Photomator with your family members for free if you have a family sharing group set up on your App Store account. If you don’t have Family Sharing set up, visit this Apple Support article to learn how.

To make sure you're sharing subscriptions with your family, see if the Share New Subscriptions setting is turned on in your App Store settings. You check this Apple Support article to learn more.

Why can't I find the option to buy a lifetime license for Photomator?

This can happen if you are already currently subscribed to Photomator. In such cases, the option to purchase a lifetime license won't show up. To switch to a lifetime license, you first need to cancel your current subscription. Once that subscription period ends, then you'll be able to buy the lifetime license.

How can I take advantage of the Exclusive Lifetime Offer?

The Exclusive Lifetime Offer lets early Photomator supporters or users who own a copy of Pixelmator Pro purchase the lifetime license of Photomator with a 30% discount. Here's how you can redeem this offer: 1. Download Photomator from the App Store to your device. If you're a Pixelmator Pro user, make sure you also have Pixelmator Pro installed on the same device.

2. If you're an early supporter of Photomator, do one of the following:

  • On iPhone or iPad, open Photomator, tap Settings (the gear icon at the top of the files or photos browser), then tap License and choose Redeem Offer. If you've downloaded Photomator on a new device, you may need to restore your purchase first.

  • On Mac, choose Photomator > Restore Purchase. Click Redeem Offer in the dialog that appears.

If you have Pixelmator Pro installed on your Mac, do one of the following:

  • Photomator > Buy Photomator. The Exclusive Lifetime Offer should show up on the Photomator purchase screen automatically.

  • If you're an existing Photomator subscriber, cancel your current subscription first, then choose Photomator > Settings and, in the License tab, click Redeem Offer.

If you're using a free trial of Photomator, you'll need to cancel the trial first, and then wait until the trial period ends to redeem the offer.

I cannot restore my Photomator purchase. Why?

If you cannot restore your Photomator purchase, you may be signed in to the App Store with a different Apple ID, or your subscription may have expired. To verify this, you can check your license status in Photomator or the App Store purchase history.

If you got Photomator during a brief promotional period when it was free or purchased Photomator before August 18th, 2022, you’ll need to subscribe to get unlimited access on all your devices. For users who bought Photomator before this date, we're offering a special early supporter discount of 30% off the lifetime license of Photomator, which unlocks it on Mac.

What happens to my edited photos when the subscription period ends or if I cancel my subscription?

When you cancel your Photomator subscription or the subscription expires, your edited photos don't go anywhere. You get to keep your edited photos, but you can no longer re-edit them or edit any new photos until you renew your subscription.

Can I get a Photomator and Pixelmator Pro bundle?

Photomator and Pixelmator Pro do not come in a bundle but if you have a copy of Pixelmator Pro, you can get Photomator with a special 30% discount. The discount applies to the lifetime license of Photomator.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind or purchase Photomator accidentally?

For a certain time after you purchase Photomator, whether it's a subscription or a lifetime license, you're eligible for a refund. All Photomator refund support is handled by Apple, so all refund requests should be submitted through Apple's refund system. When applying for a refund, keep in mind that in different regions different Apple refund policies may apply which are not regulated by the Pixelmator Team.
